Strategy and identity: Which identity and main place do you want to give to ArtBasel in the coming years, as opposed to leading art fairs or emerging ones, and how?

At Art Basel the leading galleries of the world are presenting works of the masters of the twentieth century and contemporary art. All media painting, sculpture, drawings, video, installations, digital art etc.) can be seen and purchase at Art Basel. Most of the other art fairs are specialized in contemporary art. In the upcoming years we want to preserve this status. The collectors coming to Basel have to know that Art Basel offers the best the art market has to offer.

Communication: What is your main focus in term of communication, whom do you mainly aim at, and which image do you want to impose, which support will you mainly invest in? What about internet art press as a communication means?

With our communication we want to reach the collectors, curators, museums directors, journalists and art lovers from around th world. The message is: at Art Basel and Art Basel Miami Beach visitors will find the best art of the 20th and 21st century. On the other side the participating galleries have to know that the most important collectors, curators and museum directors will attend both art fairs. Our advertising campaign focuses on international renowned daily newspaper such as The New York Times, Le Monde, Frankfurter Zeitung, Corriere della serra, Neue Zürcher Zeitung and art magazines to reach the core people of the international art scene. I am sure that the internet art press will gain more and more of importance in the future.

Position as an art leader: Which influence do you think your fair has towards institutions, curators and collectors, and generally speaking on the evolution of the Art market?

Art Basel is not just a market place. It is also a good place for curators and collectors to meet and to network which helps the positive evolution of the art market.

Europe towards America: How do you consider Europe towards USA, Asia or South America in term of creations and of market place?

The globalization of the art market is total. Nevertheless the USA is the leading country in terms of the art market place. Creations happen everywhere in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and on the American continent.

Evolution of the market and link to the collectors: How do you consider the evolution of the role of galleries in their coming years?

As I consider the globalization of the art market as total the ideal role of the galleries in the future would be to be present in all the art markets around the globe. This is why art fairs have become so important in the last decade. They offer the galleries the possibility to enter new markets to meet new clients. Further galleries have to develop joint ventures with other galleries.
